With a fixed or a growth mindset, the world is seen in a different point of view from both types of people. Viewing the fixed mindset theory through multiple perspectives contributes to impacting the lives of many who may have trouble overcoming challenges. Both the growth and fixed mindsets are from different perspectives and it is proven by psychology professor, Carol Dweck. She has stated that people with a growth mindset are capable of trying new things and not afraid of new challenges unlike people with a fixed mindset who may fail and give up on the first try. She has also proven that the people with a growth mindset would have much more success because they push themselves and don’t give up unlike the other fixed mindset people seeing it from a different point of view in which they think they will just fail continuously because they do not see that they can reach full potential and their intelligence can’t be improved or grow greater. In the eyes of someone with a growth perspective, you are able to develop your brain and work it out like a muscle with more weight, also known as challenges, and with more challenges, the more intelligent you can be. In the eyes of someone with a fixed mindset, it is seen that you can not gain intelligence and that you are stuck with what you were born with and that you might as well give up if you fail. Maybe the third time isn’t a charm. Another comparison is that people with different perspectives see that some things are just too, complicated although others may love the idea of a challenge. Multiple perspectives affect the way you think compared to others.
The two factors, the growth and fixed mindset have great value in the topic of how it influences individuals to keep on fighting and go on or to just give up. We chose the imperative, “Contribution,” for this project. Carol Dweck has stated that sometimes people will accept the challenge and some people may look at the problem as something hard and impossible for them to understand or even try to solve. Changes have been made such as more encouragement and motivation from peer for those with the fixed mindset. Individuals with a growth mindset have already learned how to “train their brain,” and that they should not give up when facing new or exciting things in their lives because they also have in mind that they can reach their full potential and there is more to it than what they know at the moment. The topics impacted and contributed to the idea of having a growth mindset, which lead to motivation and strength being key in one’s life, so they can reach one goal and go higher than they ever expected. This matters because it can help everyone around us and inspire others to motivate or maybe even have a new mindset, the growth mindset.
Sometimes giving up is like being in a jail, stuck in the same spot and most times, being able to face challenges is like a student in college with a bright future and courage to face challenges. Having a fixed mindset can be like a prisoner in jail. Prisoners stay in one spot and have the same routine and although people with a growth mindset are like a student in college going to new places and finding more challenges and facing them so make them stronger. The main visual is seen on here and represents two people, one with a growth mindset, a student in college and for the other, someone with a fixed mindset in jail uniform. Someone with a growth mindset achieves unlike someone with a fixed mindset that stays where they are at. In another representation of the growth and fixed mindset you will choose a mystery card and it can be either mindset. Figure out which is which and then look at the back of the card to confirm your claim!
